Herefordshire Free Improvisers aims to provide a vibrant space for musicians to engage in free improvised ensemble music. By providing a regular monthly sessions, this initiative invites a diverse range of participants to step into the creative flow of spontaneous musical expression. Recognizing the importance of inclusivity, we warmly welcome players of all skill levels, whether seasoned musicians or complete novices. The essence of these gatherings lies in the joyous exploration of sound; thus, no prior experience is required.
Audience members are also welcome! Come to listen as well as to join in.
We foster an environment built on openness and collaboration. Participants are encouraged to bring their unique perspectives and voices to the collective experience, contributing to a rich tapestry of sound. All that is asked is that attendees come with an open mind, a genuine willingness to listen, and a desire to respond to their fellow musicians. In this nurturing space, players can experiment freely, leading to unexpected and delightful musical encounters. The result is not just an exploration of improvisation but also a celebration of creativity, community, and the pure joy of making music together.
Herefordshire Free Improvisers takes inspiration from, and aligns with, the other similar enterprises going on in Cardiff (South Wales Improvisers), Cheltenham (Cheltenham Improvisers Orchestra) and elsewhere. Thanks to Chris Parfitt of SWI. We modelled our description on the one used by them.
